A top to spend the rest of my life with

As I walked into Bird last week I was immediately transfixed by this incredible Band of Outsiders Byra Blanket Print Top.   All the other clothes were screaming out for my attention but I couldn't drag myself away from this adorable little number.  I picked it up, held it, imagined all the things that we would do together.  This top was not just going to make me a better person but also be the perfect friend for that pair of Isabelle Marant prune colored velvet jeans I had just bought.   Even the $438 price tag couldn't dampen my love.
Let me describe all the reasons I love thee.   The open weave treats the silk in a unique and considered way.   This is no slutty open weave that threatens to bare the skin but one that understands that wearing clothes can be so much more attractive than having no clothes on at all.   Then there is the actual drape of the shirt that dances around on your waist and falls at your hips on the side.   The winged sleeves work perfectly with the drape.   This top makes me want to prance around, do pirouettes until I fall down giddy with joy, sing at the top of my lungs.
My love, I want you to know that even though the first day we met I had to leave you on the hanger I will be back to get you so we can live a perfect life together.

Truly skirtalicious

Since I saw this vintage skirt on thestylearmory.com this morning I have been completely distracted. I don't want this skirt.  I need it.
There have been other wrap skirts that have caught my eye but nothing like this.  And it all started with the fabric.  Rich red complimented by oranges, a hint of green and black used to highlight the unique print design.  While The Style Armory described the design as aztec I saw its inspiration being drawn from peacock feathers (but that could be just me - the peacock escaping from central park zoo yesterday may have had a bigger impact on me than I originally thought). For me the color and the print make it a complete statement piece.
And before you think a cotton wrap around is only good for summer, The Style Armory had some good style suggestions for Fall.  For Fall it is very modern when worn with a fitted down button up tucked in, with a slim fit sweater, belted, and flat boots. thestylearmory.com

My must have jeans for fall

Loving these high waisted, flared leg jean from Marc by Marc Jacobs label
Standard Supply
I love my high waisted jeans but up until this point I have always gone with the skinny leg.  Things are about to change though and it's all because of this jean.   There are several features that take my fancy.  The back pockets are positioned perfectly, slightly angled to the center to give you a shapely look and add illusion of lift to the butt.  They are also well centered on the fullest part of the cheeks to maintain good style proportion.   I also really like the way the bottom of the jeans has a washed in crease, appearing as if the hem of the jean has been taken down.  Not only does this create a more authentic vintage look but my suspicion is that this would give the effect of a longer leg.   And finally the wash (San Francisco wash).  As with the hemline crease, the wash provides an original 70's feel.  Particularly loving the more worn finish at the knee.
The only thing that I have a problem with is that these jeans won't be in store until fall.
